The prior O-2A mission of the 547th
Tactical Air Support Squadron was flying night time rocket watch above all U.S.
Military Headquarters based in the City of Saigon, Republic of Vietnam. When the need arose for another special
mission in JUL of 1970, this TASS was additionally tapped to fly close air
support during and following the Cambodian Invasion to first of all remove the
Viet Cong safe havens just across the Cambodian border, then subsequently to
provide ongoing 24/7 FAC patrols in support of Cambodian ground forces and
outposts against the Viet Cong and Khmer Rouge. A few of the men in this photo where in the first group of
